All day I’ve faced the barren waste without the taste of water, cool water.
I appear to be on something of a roll lately. My dystopian Western, Annals Of The Allred Clan, has been accepted for publication by Scary Dairy Press for Mother’s Revenge, described by the publisher as “a passionate anthology about Mother Earth taking her world back from the humans and teaching us a lesson.” This story previously appeared in Post-Apocalyptic Raids Horror Anthology, Rymfire Books, 2011, edited by Armand Rosamila. This is now out of print.
In the story, polygamous Mormons cope in a near-future American West ravaged by heat and drought. This is possibly the bleakest thing I’ve ever written. Whether anyone learns a lesson at the end, I’ll leave to the reader to decide. I’ll also readily admit that I was heavily influenced by Cormac McCarthy in writing this. On the bright side, it’ll be wonderful to see this yarn back in print again. I’ll let everyone know when the antho’s out.
