I’ve already announced that my long Western short story, Buzzards Circle Dogtown, will be serialized in the AUG/SEP issues of Frontier Tales. Sincere thanks once again to Editor Duke Pennell for accepting the story.
To help promote the story, I’ve decided to hold a contest. Buzzards is the story of how the good citizens of Dogtown thought they had everything under control until they picked the wrong cowhand to anger. What most folks don’t know is that the story is also an allegory with a veiled meaning.
The contest is this: whoever figures out what the story’s allegorical meaning is and tells me first wins a free copy of my Western novel, The Pirooters, a rootin’-tootin’ shoot-’em-up in its own right, also featuring the irrepressible Heck Pargrew, Buzzards’ protagonist. The contest will run until the end of September. Friends of mine who already know the allegory are of course disqualified. I look forward to hearing from folks and will be most interested to see what people guess.
