Noir Nation offers a new twist: crime fiction from around the world, not just the mean streets of the good old USA. The focus of the third collection is India with several tales of mayhem and malice on the sub-continent and pictures throughout of some stunningly beautiful Indian women. A particularly hard-boiled example is Scarlet Starlet by Supran Verma. Murder, theft, and vicious abuse elsewhere in the world are also represented. A stand-out is The Turkish Brothel by the late Cortwright McNeel. I found this story very interesting; a portrait of the character played by Robert Walker in Strangers On A Train if he lived in the present era.
I would also like to modestly note that, among this distinguished company, Noir Nation 3 also features my short story, Easter Blood Sacrifice, the fourth Alec Pargrew short story to be published. In this story, Pargrew travels to the Mexican Sierra Madre where he tries to save a suicidal old man amid the mysterious Easter celebrations of the Raramuri Indians.
All in all, this is an excellent collection of noir fiction, well worth a read by fans of the genre.
