As Kiss used to say, “We look the way you feel!”

“Mojo Rising,” by Bob Pastorella has got its points. This short novella concerns a low level East Texas meth dealer tasked by his bosses with finding out who’s behind the mysterious bright orange Mojo meth that’s outselling their product. For those who like their crime fiction straight up, be forewarned. This book has a heavy horror vibe and some events can only be described as fantastic. Still, Pastorella excels at the descriptive evocation of the burnt out, dirt poor, no jobs or prospects, meth ridden highways and byways of lowlife East Texas. High marks for atmosphere and creepy factor, but not as suspenseful as I would have liked. Still, I thought it was an entertaining read overall.
